I am a single mother by choice, blessed with my daughter Raphaela, conceived and born in Jerusalem in October 2009. Raising a happy and healthy child; balancing work, parenthood and relationships; with the additional challenge of doing it on my own, in Israel. Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Raphaela has a hard time with endings and separation. I am going to add in one more farewell, and that is the retirement of this blog. I think I need to respect her privacy as a fully formed pers.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Ethers are primarily a carbon parent chain separated by an oxygen. Esters are primarily the combination of an ether and a carboxylic acid. Together, the create a ester and water. You would name an ester the same way you would name an ether, but to name the parent chain, you need to identify which side has the double bonded oxygen, use that side as your parent chain, and use the ending -oate.
